Montana Rail Link F-45 Special at Billings            Burlington Northern along Flathead River             Central Montana Rail near Lewistown

Welcome to the Railroads of Montana website!
This website as been around since the year 2000 highlighting the railroad photography of Dale Jones. Some of you may remember the Railroads of Montana calendars and booklets I used to sell.
As I have mentioned before, I no longer sell anything but many folks still enjoy the calendars and information I have collected. This website will include information in conjunction with my other "new" website entitled Montana Railroad History.

As you have probably noticed in viewing websites, they are like model railroads - they are never finished and should one ever get "completed", then it's torn apart and is rebuilt. So... don't be surprised if  this website is constantly changing. If you have any suggestions or something in the website is not working for you - PLEASE let me know and I'll see what I can do.

CALLING ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS!
I am in the process of revising and updating my 28-page booklets.
They are all going to be greatly expanded with much more information and photographs.
This is where you photographers can help out.
I'm looking for any photograph's or information of the railroads and/or locations:

Kettle Falls, Washington Branch from Spokane [Hillyard] to Kettle Falls to Nelson and the Republic branches railroads included: Great Northern, Burlington Northern, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, Kettle Falls International and the International Reload plus any of the older D.C. Corbin railways.

KETTLE FALLS BOOK UPDATE:
As of February 2008, I am currently about 1/3 or more of the way writing the new Kettle Falls book, it contains dozens of more photos, maps and other historical information than my booklet. It's already well over 150 pages, so when completed it will probably be 250+ pages in length. Due to some family health issues, the book will probably not be ready until 2008.

Marias Pass, Montana from Whitefish to Browning including Great Northern, Burlington Northern and Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

Soo Line in Montana including the Whitetail depot including the Soo Line, Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western.

Hi-Line of Montana including all the towns between Williston, ND and Browning with side trips to Plentywood/Scobey, the Turner/ Saco branches.

Future publications will include; Railroads of Lewistown, the Kootenai River Canyon, Great Northern's Scotia Canyon near Spokane, Hillyard and the Fort Wright Environs, and much more

Please email me on any black & white or color photographs you may have. Since these are freelance publications I do not have much money for photos, but I will give photo credit and you get you a free publication. Let me know what you have!

Please feel free to email me from your email program to: djones@railroads-of-montana.com

PLEASE: Set your Spam or Junk Mail filter to accept my email address or my response will probably just get deleted by your email program.

I pretty much answer just about any question concerning Montana railroads - please answer me back and let know if you received my response. Sometimes I wonder if all my hard work just goes in some "Junk Mail" folder somewhere.

RECOMMENDED TECHNICAL INFORMATION TO USE THIS SITE

BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS: Even though this website is not necessarily a complicated or technical website, it is understood that the user will have basic computer skills; such as mouse skills, website navigation, email setup and composition, opening and closing files & folders and how to use a printer. I will try to make sure that any instructions are fairly simple, if something in this website is just not working for you, drop me an email and perhaps I can figure out what is wrong - after all, it might be that everyone else is having the same problem with my site and I will need to rectify it.

INTERNET CONNECTION: Due to the large size of data and photo files in this site, we recommend using a high speed broadband DSL or cable connection - you can view this site on a regular telephone modem, but it may take a long time for the pages to load. I have tried to keep the files to a reasonable size, but at times it is just not possible to sacrifice quality for speed.

PROBLEMS:  This website was designed on FrontpageŽ 2002 and was thoroughly tested out before posting, but sometimes things slip through.... so, if you have any problems accessing any parts of this website or you find any dead or changed links to other sites, please let me know.
If you find any inaccuracies or have new information you would like to share,
Please feel free to email me from your email program to: djones@railroads-of-montana.com

BTW: The reason I ask you to use your email program is that the automatic email program popup does not work with my simple .ftp web server :]
